Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President EU Green Deal, at EUFORES MEP Breakfast

On Tuesday 14 January 2020, Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission and leading the Commission’s work on the European Green Deal, participated in an open discussion with 28 MEPs at a EUFORES MEP Breakfast in Strasbourg. Many key topics were discussed such as the TEN-E regulation, how to scale up to more ambitious targets for renewable energy and energy efficiency and the energy policy implementation in Europe. Questions were raised by the MEPs concerning energy poverty, European industrial competitiveness and innovation strategies, PCIs and gas infrastructure, as well as green transition funding and investments, and the updated NECPs. EVP Timmermans underlined the necessity for a closer collaboration among European Parliament, European Commission and Member States. “We need tailor-made solutions for MS,…. we need private and public money,….and we need to be serious about climate neutrality”, said Frans Timmermans on his closing remarks.
