EUFORES has the honour to welcome Giles Dickson, CEO, WindEurope, for an exchange on the further roll-out of renewables towards 2030 with a special focus on the wind onshore and offshore sector.
23 October 2024, 08:00-09:00, European Parliament, Strasbourg
“Delivering the EU goal that wind is over 50% of Europe’s electricity by 2050.”
The EUFORES MEP Group will exchange with Giles Dickson on key steps to take in the coming years to sustain steady growth of renewables and wind onshore and offshore and to proceed with Europe’s industrial modernisation.
Key topics addressed are:
– Wind is 20% of all the electricity consumed in Europe today. It’s meant to be 35% by 2030 and over half by 2050. What’s needed to deliver that? Big improvements on grids, permitting and electrification are needed.
– Also, Europe’s wind turbines are (nearly) all made in Europe today. How do we sustain that and still deliver affordable power?
Special input speech
In addition, MEPs welcome a Special Guest Input by Peter Sweatman, Chief Executive at Climate Strategy & Partners, on “What can EU do big on housing: EU Renovation Loans”.
