Strasbourg MEP Breakfast 11 February 2026: Data Centres

Event Date: February 11, 2026

EUFORES has the honour to invite MEPs for another important debate – this time about the situation of Data Centres and their economic, environmental and energy impact.

Wednesday 11 February 2026, 08:00-09:00, European Parliament, Strasbourg – CONFIRMED

Why unregulated AI/datacenters will drive up electricity prices; and what can be done about

In the US, the unregulated boom of datacenters has induced substantial raises in the electricity bills of citizens and businesses.

In March 2026, EU Commission will come forward with a labelling scheme and first ideas of a minimum standard regulation for datacenters under the EED. How can the EU develop a societally useful AI without harming the energy transition?

EUFORES has invited three distinguished experts in the field to discuss the problematic situation of data centres and ways how this could be regulated without negative effects on electricity prices nor on the further roll-out of the energy transition.
