Claude Turmes appointed European Parliament´s rapporteur on the Energy efficiency directive

Category: news

Claude Turmes (MEP and EUFORES President) was appointed rapporteur on the Proposal for a Directive on energy efficiency. He will be in charge of drafting a report on the proposed directive in the European Parliament.

Fiona Hall (MEP and EUFORES Vice-President) who was appointed shadow rapporteur will assist Claude Turmes in drafting the report.

The European Commission put forward the Proposal for a Directive on energy efficiency on 22 June 2011 which will repeal Energy End-use and Services Directive and Cogeneration Directive. Instead of a binding target, the European Commission proposes a set of binding measures which are expected to help meet the target of 20% in energy savings. The policy will be reviewed in 2014.

EUFORES wishes Claude Turmes and Fiona Hall all the best!
