Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Workshop in Romania - Opportunities and challenges of the new European Energy Union

In cooperation with the Economic Committee for Industries and Services and the Committee for Energy and Transport of the Senate of Romania, EUFORES held a workshop to debate on the current issues discussed in the European Parliament regarding the Energy Union as well as the specific situation in Romania.

Members of the European as well as the Romanian Parliament came together with government officials, representatives of the European Commission and experts in the field to share information regarding the implementation of renewable energies and energy efficiency policies in Romania, challenges towards a low carbon and energy efficient economy and to provide an outlook towards the European Union's 2020 targets.

Speakers included Florin Constantinescu, Member of the Standing Bureau of the Romanian Senate, Claude Turmes, EUFORES President and Member of the European Parliament, Iulian Iancu, Chairman of the Committee for Industries and Services of the Chamber of Deputies as well as Andrei Dominic Gerea, Romanian Minister of Energy, SMEs and Business Environment, Niels Ladefoged, Policy Officer at DG Energy and Energy Efficiency at the European Commission and Emil Calota, Vice-President of the National Autority of Energy Regulation.
